My passion is offering a space for clients to process, understand, and work through traumatic experiences. I see "trauma" as a spectrum that we've all experienced at some point in our lives. My favorite aspect of providing counseling therapy is to witness the strength of the people that come to see me. The most rewarding aspect of my work is to share the tools and knowledge that I have gained with others while witnessing clients recognize strength and control they have yet to experience.

My name is Lauren (she/her) and I am a fully licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I have made my home in the Olympia area for the past 14 years, am a mother to three boys, and am an alum of Evergreen and Saint Martin’s University. One of the reasons I love therapy is that it makes room for us to accept the full range of human experience with care and dignity. My approach to therapy is to regard clients as experts in their own experience—I believe in nurturing a non-judgemental practice supportive of authentic expression and creativity.
I spent several years as a community mental health counselor working with adolescents, families, and adults, with a focus on supporting clients experiencing traumatic stress, anxiety, depression, substance use, relationship issues, and grief. As a family systems therapist, I work with individuals as well as couples, families, and children, and am competent working in queer and polyamorous systems. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) which aims to integrate and reduce distress around traumatic experiences. Other modalities I use in my practice include CBT, expressive arts, somatic, and narrative therapies.
I have experience both professionally and personally supporting families and individuals with neurodevelopmental differences, such as ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder and can address co-occurring mental health concerns and provide support with parenting strategies. For children elementary school age or younger I work with both the caregiver and child. I am currently providing hybrid services, with remote and in-person availability.

My husband and I play softball competitively, playing locally and traveling around the US to compete in various tournaments. Hello, I am Amy, and my focus is on working one-on-one with adults (25yo+). I work with: The queer community, transgender, and gender non-conforming individuals, as I feel that they are not only under served, but are often poorly served. The ethically non-monogamous and the kink community. Clients with substance use issues. Those struggling to manage mental illness such as depression or anxiety. People whose issues stem from PTSD, trauma, or grief. Giving witness and presence to pain helps facilitate a space in which people can heal. Experience has taught me that where you discover joy and passion, you also find a well to draw upon for wisdom. My focus is on calling forth your authentic self and bringing out the strengths you naturally possess. I bring an open mind to my sessions; I understand that my stories will never parallel those of every client. I have a wealth of life experience – enough to be confident that, working together, we can bring about profound personal growth. The goal is to see you not simply survive but thrive

Katie has always had a passion for serving others. Her husband retired from the U.S. Army in June of 2021 after 20 years of service during which time Katie had the privilege of volunteering and working with military families within his units in various capacities. She quickly learned the challenges that military families face as individuals and in relationship to having to frequently relocate, endure deployments, and manage other mental and emotional obstacles. Katie's experiences and desire to serve others led her to add on to her Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Louisville and achieve her Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Liberty University.
Along the way, she also had the opportunity to work in a clinical setting as a counseling intern in a faith-based counseling center at U.S. Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Tacoma, which allowed her the clinical experience of working with individuals (children, teens, and adults), couples, and families from diverse backgrounds facing a multitude of challenges. Upon graduation, Katie moved into group practice work where she continued to provide therapy to an array of individuals, couples, and families in the community. Katie has continued her work with children and teens, utilizing various creative, sand tray, and art therapy techniques found to be helpful in connecting and communicating with the youth. Katie also teaches her clients about mindfulness practices, as well as relaxation techniques important in managing anxiety, anger, self-esteem, and behavioral concerns. Katie understands how everyone's journey is unique and believes it is important to tailor treatment plans to each client's specific needs and goals in order for it to be most helpful and effective.
Katie provides therapy in treating depression, anxiety, anger, life transitions, and self-esteem issues. She is committed to helping clients feel more empowered, develop healthier ways of thinking and behaving, tap into their own strengths, and find meaning and purpose in their lives. The theoretical approaches Katie uses include: Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT), Positive Psychology, Strengths-Based Therapy, and she utilizes various creative, art, and sand tray therapy techniques.
