My approach is based on assisting families or individuals in finding their strengths and own resources to create a difference in their lives.
I am also an approved Clinical Supervisor and available to provide clinical supervision to those that are associate licensed in marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor or social work. I strive to help clinicians to become capable and competent in their practice. I’m a Licensed Mental Health Counselor. I earned my MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Webster University in Fort Bliss, Texas. I believe one of the bravest things you can do is to admit to yourself: “This isn’t working - where do I go from here?” When you’re in the middle of a transition, the uncertainty and anxiety can be difficult to cope with.
If you’ve been struggling to be kinder to yourself, your mind is flooded with anxious “what-if’s”, or if your depression keeps you feeling “stuck” in life - I’m ready to work with you. I am also passionate about working with newer therapists in the field, military veterans, people who work in creative/artistic fields, and folks in the LGBTQ+ community (including folks seeking gender confirmation surgery letters).
My approach to therapy is integrated and experiential. While working together, I use interventions from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy(ACT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), mindfulness techniques, and others. I am also trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), an evidence-based form of psychotherapy that incorporates eye movements and voluntary image replacement to help you process and bring relief to the re-experiencing of traumatic memories; ART can also be used to help some day-to-day challenges like situational anxiety and depression.
Therapy should be a place where we not only build insight into your unhelpful patterns, but also help you develop coping skills to help you function better on the day-to-day. Throughout our work together, I will continually check in about how you’re feeling about your progress toward your goals, and whether or not we need to adjust course.
I believe that everyone has an inner wisdom within them that can guide them to the life they want to live - my role is to help you find and strengthen that voice. As your therapist, I will work with you to help identify your personal strengths (you *do* have them, I promise!), develop self-compassion, and feel more comfortable in your identity. My goal is to get you closer to living a more fulfilled life - not only one that you can be fully present in, but that you can truly enjoy.
Growing up as a military child and now a military spouse, I’ve lived in the south, the east coast, and am now settled in Tumwater. When I’m not therapist-ing, I’m either reading, doing yoga, watching documentaries, going on nature walks, and spending time with my husband and our animals (2 cats and 2 dogs).
I am LGBTQIA+, disability, racial and social justice allied. I work with adults and teens (ages 13+) and am offering hybrid services, with availability for remote or in-person appointments (beginning mid-June, I will only be available for virtual sessions). I would be honored to be part of your journey for change!

Reaching out for mental health care for yourself and/or your family can be hard, but you have
taken some of the first steps towards a better life.
Providing therapy is the culmination of my life’s calling to help facilitate deep,
meaningful change for others. I have worked with families with teens/tweens from many backgrounds seeking help
with strengthening their relationships. I believe we all innately already possess what we need to
heal and experience joy, but sometimes need help finding ways to remove the obstacles to this.
The clients/couples/families with teens I work with are the experts of their lives, and I partner with them to bring
out their natural strengths.
I focus on working with couples and families with teens facing a variety of challenges such as
anxiety, depression, substance use, and trauma that is impacting these relationships. I also work
with individuals seeking help with similar issues. I pull from many types of therapy approaches,
but often lean towards Emotionally-Focused Therapy, Internal Family Systems Therapy,
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing. The work we do will be
tailored to what works best for you and your needs. I am an LGBTQIA+, disability, racial and
social justice ally. I strive to create a safe, open space for those who identify with many in my
office.
I was fortunate to be born and raised on Whidbey Island. I have lived in various places throughout Western Washington in my adult life, and absolutely love this corner of the world.
I am an
avid hiker/backpacker throughout the mountains and forests of the Cascades and Olympics,
where I recharge my batteries. I also love yoga, writing, dancing, and other creative endeavors.

Dalyn Badis (pronounced: Dale+inn, Bade+iss) (they/them) is a graduate of the Master of Arts in Counseling program at Saint Martin's University. Their therapeutic practice is rooted in a decade of experience supporting queer and trans youth and adults to live full and exuberant lives. Prior to beginning their therapeutic practice, Dalyn worked as an advocate for survivors of sexual and domestic violence; this work remains close to their heart. Having apprenticed to the core tenets of self-determination, social justice, and mutual aid for many years, Dalyn's practice is guided by the intrinsic intuition, unique gifts, and particular shape of challenge alive within each individual and the communities to which they belong.
Dalyn utilizes a strengths-based, solution-focused approach to therapy. In other words, we start by noticing what is already working and where you are already living into the life you long for. Dalyn may also incorporate Expressive Arts, Archetypal Psychology, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Somatic Experiencing to explore the particular constellation of difficulty that is alive in your life. Just as important, each of these tools will help us to locate new and existing resources that you already possess. Wherever this moment finds you, know that you are well on your way.
Born and raised in eastern Pennsylvania, Dalyn has called Washington home since 2012. Each passing year elicits a deepening relationship with the land and its people; they are proud to belong to this place. When not with clients, Dalyn can be found enjoying roads and waterways with their exuberant dog, listening to terrible music, and spending time with loved ones. They anxiously await the upcoming ski season and the many other adventures that our colder months invite in the great PNW.
Dalyn is available to meet remotely and in-person.

I work with children and adults experiencing attachment disorders, ADHD, depression, anxiety, addictions, PTSD, and secondary trauma in helping professions.
