Directors & Supervisors

My name is Dione (Dee-own-ee) and I was born on the beautiful island of Guam and was raised in a military family living in a variety of places throughout my childhood.  I have also served as a military wife and am lucky to now call Washington State my home.  I have lived in the Lacey/Olympia area on and off since elementary school and I am now honored to serve this community through my work.  

My passion is offering a space for clients to process, understand, and work through traumatic experiences.  I see "trauma" as a spectrum that we've all experienced at some point in our lives.  My favorite aspect of providing counseling therapy is to witness the strength of the people that come to see me.  The most rewarding aspect of my work is to share the tools and knowledge that I have gained with others while witnessing clients recognize strength and control they have yet to experience.

  Dave is a fully licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and State Approved Clinical Supervisor. Dave has an undergraduate degree from St. Cloud State University in St. Cloud Minnesota where he majored in Applied Psychology with a Multicultural Counseling emphasis and double minors in Human Relations and Women Studies. Dave has master’s degrees from both
St. Martin’s University where he studied counseling psychology and from Hamline University (St. Paul, MN) where he studied Nonprofit Management, leadership and Public Policy. Dave has spent the last 10 years in private practice focusing on combat trauma, domestic and sexual abuse, couples work and infidelity. Prior to
co-founding the Northwest therapy Group Dave spent roughly 15 years working on community development, economic development, and crime prevention in inner city communities. Currently Dave is focusing on administrative duties within the NWTG and is not currently taking clients. 

 My name is Athena and I have lived in the South Puget Sound area for over 30 years. I am a wife and mother to two young adults.  I am a fully licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Washington State and have provided individual, couples and family therapy for adults, teens, and children for over 25 years. I strongly believe in strengthening couples/family/individual competencies and collaborating to facilitate positive and lasting change. My approach is based on assisting families or individuals in finding their strengths and own resources to create a difference in their lives.

I am also an approved Clinical Supervisor and available to provide clinical supervision to those that are associate licensed in marriage and family therapist, mental health counselor or social work. I strive to help clinicians to become capable and competent in their practice.  I have worked in many clinical settings to include private practice, agency and crisis clinics, working with youth and young adults, couples and families.

 My name is Dan and I am a fully licensed Mental Health Counselor. I grew up in Olympia and returned here after completing my Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology at Bastyr University. I am a husband and father of two young children. 

I am currently providing hybrid services, with remote and in-person availability.  I have experience with anxiety, depression, PTSD, psychosis, and other conditions. I work with adult (18+) individuals. I also am versed in concepts and models of codependency and narcissistic abuse.

I believe in a holistic approach when working with individuals; I believe it is imperative to consider the mind, body, and spirit when working towards wellness. I have worked in inpatient and intensive outpatient settings and have navigated many degrees of mental health and diagnostic presentations.

I strongly believe in utilizing the tools that one already comes equipped with. I explore with my clients how they can use their hobbies, relationships, interests to support their recovery in mental health. 

I utilize tools from CBT and ACT to support individuals in finding, building, and maintaining meaning in their actions and lives. I believe we all could use some support in facing the many challenges presented throughout our lives. I encourage those I work with to step into a willingness to experience these hardships for that is where the growth can happen.

I strive to help clinicians to become capable and competent in their practice.  I have worked in many clinical settings to include private practice, community mental health, and inpatient facilities.
